PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations) place duties upon individuals and companies who own, operate or control work equipment. PUWER also places responsibilities on businesses and organisations whose employees use work equipment, whether owned by them or not.

PUWER Assessor Training

Our 4 day PUWER Assessor training provides your technicians and engineers with the knowledge they need to carryout inhouse machinery PUWER inspections.

Our training starts by building the knowledge needed to carry out PUWER inspections by studying the applicable Directives, Regulations and Standards, before a detailed study of the PUWER Regulations.

The training consists of theory and practical exercises. 

We can carryout training at our offices in Swindon or at your company.

PUWER Assessor Training Itinerary - Day 1 & 2

  • Day 1:
  • Course introduction
  • Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations
  • Machinery Directive and CE Marking requirements
  • Introduction to Harmonised Standards
  • Introduction to the PUWER ACOP

Day 2:

  • EN 12100 Safety of machinery – Risk assessment and risk reduction
  • EN 13849-1 Safety of machinery – Safety related parts of a control system
  • SISTEMA
  • EN 14119 Safety of machinery – Interlocks
  • EN 14120 Safety of machinery – Guarding

PUWER Assessor Training Itinerary - Day 3 & 4

Day 3:

  • EN 13850 Safety of Machinery – Emergency stops
  • EN 13857 Safety of machinery – Safety distances
  • LOTO & Machinery safety signage
  • EN 13855 Safety of machinery – Positioning of safeguards
  • EN 13854 Safety of machinery – Minimum gaps

Day 4:

  • PUWER Regulations & Inspections
